Study Conditions and Professional Success - The german tracer studies co-operation project ((KOAB))

Abstract

The cooperative project Alumni Studies (KOAB) was initiated by INCHER-Kassel and the network Alumni Research in 2007. During the time 2007-2017 INCHER-Kassel coordinated the project. Since mid-2017, the co-ordination of new graduate survey went to ISTAT (a spin-off from the INCHER), which offers an identical service. As part of this project, about 70,000 graduates of German universities were surveyed 1.5 years after completing their studies. Another survey takes place about four to five years after graduation (KOAB second survey). The current second survey is carried out in cooperation between INCHER-Kassel and ISTAT. The graduate surveys were conducted in close cooperation between  up to 60 partner universities in Germany and the KOAB team of INCHER-Kassel. Each partner university had the opportunity to add individual questions to the core questionnaire, which was binding for all universities. In addition, the partner universities were supported by intensive consulting services, including numerous events and workshops.

Since 2007 more than 200,000 graduates from altogether more than 80 universities have participated in the study.

From October 2017, INCHER-Kassel no longer coordinates the KOAB project. The Institut für angewandte Statistik ISTAT (a spin-off from INCHER) offers an identical project.
