Abstract
Bis(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)phosphine Cp*2PH reacts with S under basic conditions to give the corresponding dithiophosphinate salts M+ Cp*2PS2- (5 M+ = HNEt3+, 6 M+ = Li+), which are formed via the intermediate Cp*2P(S)H (Cp* = C5Me5) (4). Both salts on treatment with Co (II) chloride give rise to the transition metal dithiophosphinate I. The structures of 5, 6 and I were detd. by x-ray crystallog. [on SciFinder(R)]
