Project Details

Project duration: 01/201212/2012

Abstract

The project
aimed at reconnecting the international alumni of the University of Kassel with
their previous host university and with Germany, and to strengthening the international
alumni network. The central part of this project was an international alumni
workshop week, which took place from October 8th to 12th, 2012, in Kassel.
During this week, around 30 international alumni returned to Kassel and participated
in various advanced training courses on the central topics of language, culture
and education. The multilingual and multicultural portrays of all participants
revealed different perspectives on the central themes. Multi-perspective
knowledge construction as designed in the Human GPS model (Finkbeiner, 2009)
was fostered through cooperative learning scenarios during the workshop.
Besides the initiator, Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner, several guest lecturers
gave insight into their learning cultures and current research projects,
resulting in fruitful discussions among the alumni: Prof. Dr. Josep Cots (Spain), Dr. Sylvia Fehling (Germany), Prof. Dr. Banu Inan (Turkey), Prof. Dr. Anita
Malmqvist (Sweden), Mary Masterson (Ireland), Prof. Dr. Andrea Young (France),   Prof. Dr. Frank Nevius (USA) and Prof. Dr.
Cornelia Paraskevas (USA).
