Isolation of putative antisense regulated genes from Dictyostelium

Zusammenfassung
Using antibodies specifically directed against double stranded RNA, we have isolated dsRNA from crude Dictyostelium RNA preparations. By atomic force microscopy, molecules in the size range from 150 bp to approx. 2.000 bp were detected. Some of the RNAs were cloned by random primer PCR and it was shown by run-on transcription assays that they are transcribed in both directions in vivo. Sequencing of selected clones has so far not revealed open reading frames and no significant homology to any known sequences in Dictyostelium.
