P,N-ligands with 1,1'-ferrocenediyl backbone

Project Details

Project duration: 01/200912/2010

Abstract
The project focuses on fundamental and applied aspects of the coordination chemistry of P,N-ligands. The two different donor sites are connected by a ferrocene-based backbone, which is redox-active and can function as a molecular ball-bearing. The primary aim of the project is to get a detailed understanding of the coordinative behaviour of these ligands. The secondary aim is to utilise this knowledge for two attractive areas of application, viz. catalysis and ion sensing. As an additional pay-off, the generation of supramolecular oligometallic structures is expected, which are relevant to several aspects of modern materials chemistry.
