Abstract
The ongoing EU study "Regional Futures 2020 - Regional Challenges in the Perspective of2020" is set up to identify regional vulnerabilities (vulnerability being defined as a function of ex -posure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity) towards five major challenges, i.e. globalization,demographic change, climate change, social polarization and sustainable and competitive energywith the aim of obtaining a vulnerability analysis of the regions as a contribution to the de -bate on the future of the EU Cohesion Policy.
