Abstract
For efficient driving of high power ultrasonic actuators single-phase DC/AC-inverter can be used. If wide bandgap switches are applied a high efficiency can be reached while a high switching frequency enables higher power-densities. In this paper different topologies for driving an ultrasonic actuator with a resonance frequency of 20 kHz and a rated power of above 2 kW are compared. The best suited topology is build up and will be analyzed by measurement. Afterwards considerations and possible issues for designing and operating these inverters are described.
