Zusammenfassung, Abstract
Within the last decade numerous innovative timber products have been developed. in combination with a progress in building regulations this formed the basis for the construction of multi-storey buildings for housing, administration or industrial purpose. On the other side timber related research in earthquake engineering came close to stagnation in Europe. This paper illustrates the different experimental techniques which are used to proof the earthquake resistance of timber elements. Then force based and deformation based calculation procedures will be explained. Both methods will be compared in connection to a simple example.
