Abstract
In the automotive industry, the application of plastics in the power train is essential for lightweight construction, and also for meeting CO2 emission requirements. Weight reductions can, however, be achieved by employing a hybrid process (metal/plastic composite) for the components of the power train or gear box. The plastic components must prove ageing resistant when exposed to moisture and oil at different temperatures. The main focus of this publication includes characterisation methods and the selection of a suitable material.
