As a
financing instrument, Intracting creates positive financial and organizational
framework conditions that enable the university's internal energy management to
continuously improve the energy efficiency of university buildings and to tap
existing energy-saving potential. Therefor first energy saving measures are implemented
financed by a given start up financing. The energy cost savings achieved are
reinvested in new saving measures, which leads to new cost savings that are
reinvested again and so on. If properly designed, this intracting cycle leads
to an exponential increase of the available finances. Within the first 15 years
investments in energy saving measures can be implemented, which corresponds to 20
times the start-up funding. So by implementing intracting the energy consumption
and CO2-emissions can be reduced substantially.
The research project “intracting at universities -
IntrHo” examines the design, introduction and application of Intracting at
universities and develops the necessary tools for planning and implementation. The
results can largely be transformed to municipalities.
